As we commemorate Worker's Day in Nigeria, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the diligent and hardworking workers of Ekiti State. Today, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of our workforce to the growth and development of our state.

The dedication, commitment, and resilience exhibited by our workers are commendable and serve as a cornerstone of progress in our society. Despite the challenges we face, their unwavering efforts continue to propel Ekiti State towards greater heights.

On this occasion, let us reaffirm our commitment to supporting our workers and ensuring their well-being, safety, and prosperity. However, it is imperative to acknowledge the widening gap between the current minimum wage and the rising cost of living. The disparity between what our workers earn and the prices of goods and services they encounter daily is stark.

Therefore, I call upon the government to urgently review and increase the minimum wage, ensuring that our workers are adequately compensated for their labor. This adjustment is not only a matter of economic fairness but also a crucial step towards promoting social justice and improving the quality of life for all citizens.

As the Youth Parliament Speaker of Ekiti State, I pledge to advocate for policies and initiatives that promotes job creation and foster a conducive environment for economic prosperity.

Together, let us strive towards a future where every worker is valued, respected, and rewarded for their contributions to our beloved state.

Happy Worker's Day!

Rt. Hon. Olusanya Babatunde Nathaniel.

Speaker, Ekiti state Youth Parliament.
